How many times have you been at a meeting or social gathering and heard this phrase? Suddenly everyone is comparing all the great wisdom and insights they have gathered from books. The conversation is interesting, sort of, except that you haven't read anything that anyone is talking about.
I don't know about you, but I have a love hate relationship with reading. Stick me on a beach with a pina colada in my hand, a pair of great shades and the sounds of the waves hitting the shore and I will easily become engaged in a page turning whodunnit. But tell me that I really should read Malcolm Gladwell's latest and greatest and I feel my brain turn to cement.
Well, my boys helped me to find a solution. audible.com. I heard my son listening to "Game of Thrones" the other night and he told me he got it free for a 30 day trial. You can then cancel or stay on for a monthly fee. I've bought audiobooks before and they are hugely expensive - and the waiting lists at the library are crazy long. You forget what you ordered by the time it comes in.
My favorite way to listen to books is in the car so I'm going to check out the site and see how I can make this happen. Hmmmm 'Quiet' looks cool.....
